It is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profitable, voluntary organization run by students of Group Scholaire NYAGASOZI in collaboration with students of University of Rwanda (UR)
FYAP was founded in 2017 by a partnership between a medical students of the National University of Rwanda, and the students of GS NYAGASOZI in Muyira sector, Nyanza District, in southern province of Rwanda. After observing a big number of teenagers mostly girls dropout from schools after completing primary or before completing ordinary level in this village and neighborhood schools as a results of unwanted pregnancies and poverty in their families, FYAP was initiated hoping to provide sustainable improvement in the health of teenagers in both schools and communities and their living conditions for those who dropped out from schools whose hope was almost completely gone.
Working with students and local volunteers is a key part of the foundation upon which FYAP was built to increase awareness and develop students’ problem solving skills, Health education and project planning abilities.

HYGIENE AND SANITATION PROGRAM
This project was developed due to students mostly girls who misses classes due to lack of sanitary pads and end up dropping out from schools, unnecessary sufferings from dysentery, diarrhea and other water borne diseases because of unhygienic practices i.e. unclean drinking water and use of unsanitary toilet facilities. Rural areas in Rwanda still have little access to clean water and adequate sanitary facilities.
AIMS
Raise awareness about hygiene and sanitation through school education sessions
Promote community education on issues of sanitation.
EDUCATION SESSIONS
FYAP members propose to conduct sessions in all primary and secondary schools in Muyira sector, Nyanza district. Lessons will focus on the importance of personal hygiene such as hand washing, washing the body oral hygiene and clean water practices. Songs, posters and group discussions will be used as methods to teach primary schools.
Sessions will be given at village meetings and community workers (umuganda) to address outstanding issues and continuing ignorance of hygienic practices. The session will aim to educate villagers on these key areas and disseminate skills and knowledge of hygiene and sanitation with the help of posters.
Following the community sessions, FYAP volunteers will conduct house to house education sessions with aim to evaluate the community workshops results and with the use of additional interviews based questionnaires and these will address any outstanding problems or points of confusion related to hygiene, both personal and domestic.
Sexual Reproductive Health
This program aims at developing the skills and knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention in schools and villages of Nyanza district, Southern province of Rwanda. They will collaborate with village and schools anti-HIV/AIDS clubs and we will support them in problem solving, project management and greater awareness of responsible sexual behavior. Our goal is to reduce the prevalence of sexually related health problems, with the intention of spreading awareness to the greater community through youth trainings.
Aim
a) Work with anti HIV/AIDS Youth clubs in schools and villages
b) Training sessions with the clubs and primary and secondary school students
c) Voluntary canceling and testing programs
d) Organizing competitions between clubs
GENDER EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
In many developing countries in Africa where Rwanda is found, young girls are often burdened with household duties such as cooking and caring for young siblings which leads to their poor performance in schools. In the severe cases such as girl drop out of school due to unwanted pregnancies, failures in examinations, lack of confidence and HIV/AIDS infection.
This project addresses gender, sexual health and HIV/AIDS by teaching young adults and empowers them to make positive decisions about their health.
AIMS
To teach youth about sexual health, family planning and gender empowerment through workshops (at least three).
To consolidate and enhance young people’s awareness about sexual health and further teachings.
MALARIA PREVENTION PROGRAM
During the last few years, significant progress has been made in scaling up malaria control interventions and decreasing the number of malaria deaths. It is predicted that deaths have been decreased by over 54% and the UN optimistically predicts malaria could be eradicated in Rwanda by 2015. But these days has increased too.
FYAP will undoubtfully influence in the reduction of this debilitating diseases. Government programs tend to focus on pregnant women, who are most at risk, FYAP will focus on a gap in the provisions, educating school children, the community and in providing insecticide-treated nets (ITNs)
Despite the hard work of the government. The battle has not yet won up to now. FYAP will focus heavily on raising awareness and creating sustainable solution to Malaria.
AIMS
To reduce the mobility rate of Malaria up to 0% in 2025 in Nyanza district and country in general.
To reduce mortality rate of Malaria up to 0% in Nyanza district
Raising awareness of Malaria through community teaching sessions and schools of Nyanza districts.
